Why do modern gardens look so different from the neat, formal ones we see in Victorian photographs and drawings? In the late 19th and early 20th century, William Robinson – one of the British Isles’ most influential horticulturalists – championed and popularised a more naturalistic gardening style that used hardy plants to create landscapes that mimic wild spaces.

In this Old Laboratory exhibition at 911±¬ÁÏ Garden Wisley, discover Robinson's written works and ideas, learn about his connection to Wisley and how he became such an influential figure, and become immersed in his vision of a 'wild garden' through beautiful artwork and photography, before heading out into the garden to explore the kind of landscapes he inspired and advocated.

Please note: Normal garden admission charges will still apply to enter the garden.
