How to grow border phlox

The bold blocks of colour produced by border phlox (Phlox paniculata, P. maculata and P. x arendsii and cultivars) make them stalwarts of the summer garden. The tall, domed or pyramidal flowerheads are traditionally grown in herbaceous borders in clumps, but can be mixed with ornamental grasses for a more contemporary look.
