Tender ferns - houseplants

Ferns that cannot tolerate temperatures lower than 10°C (50°F) are often grown indoors as houseplants. Many are suited to rooms out of direct sunlight and in some cases rooms such as bathrooms which can have higher humidity levels.

Looks

Some indoor ferns display fine, airy forms giving a light delicate appearance while other can provide a bolder larger leaf structure.

Likes

Indoor ferns appreciate indirect sunlight with moist but not waterlogged compost.

Dislikes

These ferns dislike bright, direct sunlight, dry compost and cold draughts.

Did you know?

Many indoor ferns are suited to planting in hanging pots or baskets where they can provide great foliage interest.
