In more detail
- A continuous planter runs the length of the balcony, housing calming perennials and grasses that would suit any colour or style of building, and at each side the run of planting is interrupted by gaps for small bench-like seats
- Two multi-stem spindle trees (Euonymus planipes) at each end of the balcony show that even small trees can be accommodated. Their colourful and unusual fruits complement the autumn colour just starting to appear on the foliage
About the garden
The Balcony of Blooms demonstrates that small spaces can be practical, productive and enchanting. Two trees provide a sense of enclosure, while a continuous green edge is planted with herbs for culinary and medicinal use, as well as with pollinator-friendly flowers.
