911±¬ÁÏ Chelsea Sustainable Garden Product of the Year 2022

With a focus on sustainability, the competition aims to highlight the best environmentally-friendly products for consumer gardening needs

Winner announced

Peatlands are the world’s largest carbon store, as well as valuable ecosystems for both plants and animals. It’s incredibly important that peat stays in the bogs, and not in bags of compost.

That’s why the judging panel for 911±¬ÁÏ Chelsea Sustainable Gardening Product of the Year was delighted to announce the Dobbies range of peat-free John Innes 1, 2 & 3 composts as the winner of the 2022 competition.

Dobbies’ John Innes 1, 2 & 3 composts were assessed under the Responsible Sourcing Scheme for growing media and have been rated ‘A’. This means they are considered to have the lowest impact on the environment.

The compost range, along with all of the finalists, were on display in the Great Pavilion at 911±¬ÁÏ Chelsea Flower Show 2022.

The runner-ups

GARDENA |  AquaBloom

Highly commended by the judging panel as a great solution for small gardens and containers, this innovative watering system does not require a mains water supply. GARDENA |  Ecoline Range

Gardena EcoLine is the first range of high-quality gardening tools in the market that is made with significant shares (at least >65%) of post-consumer recycled plastic material.

twool |  Sustainable Tree & Shrub Tie

Ocean Plastic Pots |  The ‘Bloom’ Ocean Plastic Pot Series

These sustainable plant pots are made in Scotland from 100% rope and fishing net. The raw material is collected from ports and UK beaches, increasing awareness of the ocean plastic problem.

Oxley's Furniture |  Casa by Oxley’s

This colourful outdoor furniture is made from recycled aluminium, saving 95% energy compared to making new. Oxley also guarantees to buy it back for half the original price, to then reprocess it and give it a new home.

Miracle-Gro |  Performance Organics Liquid All Purpose Plant Food

This 100% organic plant food uses a vegan, plant-based recipe and is packaged in a recycled, recyclable bottle to ensure sustainability from start to finish.

Dalefoot Composts |  Wool Compost Double Strength
