For inspiration for his planet-friendly garden, designer David Williams looked to Paradise Park, Leyland. This 20-acre park is split into areas of woodland and cut grass meadows with a natural feel. The features in the garden, such as the native hedgerow, wildlife pond with deck/dipping platform, bog garden and feeding station for birds are all inspired by Leyland.
Speaking about the garden, David explained: 鈥渢he planting has a very natural look and is based on what happened to the park鈥檚 cut grass in 2020 when council workers were furloughed due to coronavirus.
鈥淢eadows that were usually cut every two weeks were left untended and the simple cut grass became several different grasses of various heights and shades. Interspersed between the grasses were wild flowers that I hadn鈥檛 noticed before because they hadn鈥檛 been allowed to mature.鈥
The garden also has a workspace sheltered by a green roof and a raised bed incorporating a buried compost bin.
