On the Brink

Global Impact Gardens
On the Brink draws attention to plastic blindness. The garden represents an ocean on the brink of manmade ecological disaster. Among a sea of plastic debris, clusters of new growth emerge suggesting the possibility of redemption.

We wish to show that the plastic pollution issue is rooted and entrenched in deeper, complex ocean issues. We see the revolt against single-use plastic as a gateaway into looking at more pressing environmental concerns.

Research indicates that 70% of large macro plastic comes from fishing gear. Last month, the UN released the most comprehensive report on extinction which particularly highlighted the need for fishing reform.
